EVER FELT STUCK ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE FENCE

Ever felt stuck on the wrong side of the fence and when you get the courage to try to get to the other side you get caught in the fence itself ?

I have spoken to more than one KLR graduate this week who know what they have been doing in the past isn't working but it almost seems worse when they learn about the KLR system and try to implement it.
First congratulations for not being mediocre and wanting more for your self, your family and the land you work.It takes some committment and perseverance to learn something new and then put it to practical use.

Just like this calf we get stuck and then we almost go crazy trying to release ourselves. If the calf just calmly thought about how it got into the predicament and then calmly worked out how to release itself, maybe there would be a different result.

KLR is so simple it is almost too simple for complicated human minds. I want to refer you to a previous post where I talked about changing class - you do not need to use the calculators for everything, sometime it is better to use a cigarette paper.
Almost every trade will not be trading like for like so tomorrow night I will touch on this process - in the meantime revision for some of you - read this post below.

Emerald KLR Advanced Day at Capacity

I have just got in from the last day of a 3 day KLR program in Emerald.Even though Telsta cannot fix my wireless connection for 10 days I have found a way to post a blog, be it so brief.
Over the 2 day school and 1 day advanced we had a total of over 115 people attend at least one if not both programs.
It was great to catch up with so many old faces and graduates as well as many new people.
I will post more on all this next week when I can get a decent connection.
Thank you everybody who attended Orange or emerald in the last 2 weeks where over 200 people have spent time listening to us share the KLR Marketing system.
Music day tomorrow so who knows which singer gets a gig, til then cheers.

FENCE KEEPS PLANTS FROM BREAKING IN !!

I was driving along the highway about 10 days ago and I saw something worth sharing with you.
It is amazing how we think we are good managers yet nature has a way of doing it better.
Now I am not knocking the manager of the land in the video - I am quite sure they do not see what I saw.Until I was exposed to the Grazing for Profit school in 1994 and had my blinkers removed I did not see the clear lines of managment vs no management on our land resources.

What one person calls weeds is another persons land rejuvinating project.Take a look at the video below to see how this fence can keep the plants from getting into the farmers paddock.

IF VIDEO STOP/STARTS PRESS PAUSE & LET IT LOAD.

I am in Emerald running a KLR Marketing school and Advanced Workshop this week, internet not so good so if I do not post tomorrow night I will get oneu p Thursday night.

TWO MONTHS INTO THE GOLF IN DUBAI STEERS

Ok it is now 8 weeks since our story on the weaner sale mob, lets take a look see.

Remember our "Golf in Dubai" weaner story in January(if not read it by clicking the link).Well here we are 8 weeks later so let's take a look where we are in both the old Buy /Sell paradigm and the KLR Sell/Buy paradigm.

Now if you are not yet a KLR Marketing school graduate you may find the discussion a little challenging.

If you are a KLR graduate this video below is a great example of how just like last month, you may find yourself stuck in a trade yet trade your way out of it.

BUY/SELL

January - Bought 360 kg Steers $691 -$1.91c/kgCosts -

Frt plus 8 weeks grass $61 (let alone any drench etc)

Now owe us 1 month later - $752

Market for 390Kg (15kg wt gain/ mth) $683

So we HOLD for the production and more money.

SELL/BUY

Remember a Diligent KLR Marketer would have kept his money for better times back in January, however what if you only found out about KLR 2 months after the event of buying the weaners.

Sell 390 kg Steer $1.75 /kg - $611/hd

Buy 211 Kg Steer $1.79/kg - $378/hdLess COG $203.47/hd (watch video to see details)

Profit $101.34 - 21% ROC

So there you go a 2nd opportunity to turn the trade around & yet you can think - no options !!!

Watch Video Below to see how I used the KLR 30 Second market report and KLR Spreadsheets to create a profitable trade from a losing trade in the old Buy /Sell mode.

WHO'S GOT TALENT ? ONE OF OUR OWN !!

Karen Tully,Wendy & Richard Agar,Fiona Cameron,Catherine O'Sullivan
at the awards night.

As I sit here tonight watching "Who's got Talent" , I thought we should acknowledge one of our own.

Mastermind member Wendy Agar was announced Runner Up in the annual Queensland Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation’s (RIRDC) Rural Women’s Award.

Wendy and Richard Agar run a sheep and cattle at Charleville in western Qld.Living in an isolated area did not stop Wendy from seeking to make her contribution to the rural community.
She planned to put together a series of educational programs for rural people, focusing on women living in rural areas if she won and received the winners grant.
Well even though Wendy did not win, we are going to assist her to put her project into action using the technology we use at KLR Marketing.
Watch this space for the first of "Wendy's Sessions" soon.

The following is an exerpt from RIRDC press release.

"The annual Queensland Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation’s (RIRDC) Rural Women’s Award was announced at a gala event in Brisbane last week with southeast Queensland feedlot co-owner Barb Madden named winner and Charleville sheep and cattle producer Wendy Agar runner-up.
Sponsored and co-ordinated by the Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries (DPI&F), the Rural Women’s Award celebrates the outstanding achievements of women in the rural sector.
Runner-up Wendy Agar and her family own and manage Myendetta Station, an 18,000 ha property 30km south west of Charleville. The sheep and cattle property has been in Richard Agar’s family since 1890.
The Agars, like so many graziers in Western Queensland, have experienced the debilitating stress associated with prolonged drought. Over the past seven years, Wendy’s approach to dealing with drought has been to immerse herself in education and training programs that have enabled both the farm and Wendy herself to thrive.
She has changed and improved the family’s grazing practices, developed new business skills, and diversified the farm business into tourism and processed food. Wendy has also been an active participant in many rural organisations including AgForce, Future Farmers and the Queensland Rural Women’s Network.
Most recently she was a delegate to the Queensland Government’s rural women’s symposium at Roma.

“I am excited to have had the opportunity to be a finalist in this year’s RIRDC Rural Women's Award,” Wendy said. “Through this process I was able to clarify what I can do to make a difference. The awards process is a great opportunity to grow as a leader and expand your networks. “As runner-up I will attend an Australian Institute of Company Directors’ course with all the other state winners in Canberra in May. I will also get to attend the national awards night at Parliament House.
“I am passionate about sustainable agriculture. I believe that on-going education is one of the keys to the long term sustainability of our natural resources, our businesses and our people.

“My project was all about on-going education. I proposed a series of 10 capacity building webinars and teleconferences with topics that focused on change management,” she said. "

WELL DONE WENDY !!

CHANGING CLASS - KEEP IT SIMPLE

I was speaking to a diligent KLR Marketer last week who was selling some high quality cows (stud) and wanting to buy some skinny cows to fatten, but were not sure how to use the trading formulae in this situation.

So you want to sell one class of animals and buy another class, but not really sure how to work out the Sell/Buy.
1. First thing to do is check are the animals I own Overpriced or Underpriced. If they are Overpriced we would then look at either replacing with a similar class animal or an animal in another class. If we are not staying in the same type/class of animal then sell the animals.

And put your money in your Money Inventory ( at least in your mind).

Then look at the class of animals you are going to buy.

1.Enter the Target weight/class into the Sell part of the spreadsheet.(new animal)

2. Enter Today's price into the Sell Price part of the spreadsheet.

3. Enter the Buy weight into the Buy part of the spreadsheet

4. Enter Today's Price into the Buy part of the spreadsheet.

5. Now once you have entered all your other info - you should have an answer if there is a profitable trade - if so and it is what you are looking for take the Money out of your Money Inventory

6. Make the purchase, put aside your COG and you can even take the profit here rather than try and work out the profit from say the sheep above to the cattle.

KEEP IT SIMPLE, SOME PEOPLE TRY AND CALCULATE IT INTO SOME EQUATION ALBERT EINSTEIN COULD NOT UNDERSTAND.

HOW SECURE ARE YOU FEELING ?

Today we have had our first session of the KLR Marketing school in Orange,NSW.
64 livestock producers travelled from as far north as Warwick,Qld, south to Mt Gambier and
Wangaratta, east to Dungog and west to Wanarring.
Internet speed is terrible so this blogger is being challenged but we do have a post tonight.

Those of you who have attended the KLR Marketing school know about the fun we create to start off the school with the creativity exercise. As you can see by the photo these guy's were having a lot of fun.

One great insight out of today was how each of the six groups called their product a security pack or similar, something maybe one group might normally do.Interesting, does that mean people are subconciously feeling insecure or is there something more at large with human conciousness causing people to think this way.

Are you feeling insecure in this world economic climate ? Now might be a good time to stop and ponder this thought, because now is not the time to be unprepared for whatever comes your way.

I am going to leave you with those thoughts before the internet crashes.
(now I am feeling insecure !!!!)

KLR GRADUATE OFFERS LIVESTOCK BUYING SERVICE

Ben Hooper and his wife Michelle attended a KLR Marketing school last year in Orange, after meeting me at a Low Stress Stockhandling school in Yeoval. They are also members of the KLR Mastermind, running a livestock business between Dubbo and Gilgandra.
Ben has had extensive experience as an agent and is offering his services as a livestock buyer for KLR graduates.
If you are looking for someone to assist you to purchase livestock with an understanding of KLR Principles have a chat with Ben.
Read an exerpt from Ben's Brochure:
Our business is profit focused not production focused.
We have undertaken extensive training to improve our business and personal performance.
I found there to be an opportunity for a Livestock Buyer that has a solid understanding of the KLR Marketing Principles and ability to describe livestock quickly and accurately to take advantage of opportunities that arise.

I am an ex Stock & station agent and still have many friends and contacts in the profession. I am also an Accredited Assessor for AuctionsPlus - Level 2 for Sheep; Level 3 for Cattle.
With these skills I have the ability to understand what the producer wants and be able to accurately describe and source for the producer.
Services provided by myself are buying livestock in central NSW, with contacts further afield able to fill producers buying needs with a focus on Profit for the producer across eastern Australia.

Gold’s Role During Periods Of Monetary Stress

For those of you who are mathematical out there I thought this was an interesting Post by Jim Sinclair from Jim's Mineset.
Jim Sinclair is a precious metals and commodities specialist. In January 2003, Mr. Sinclair launched, "Jim Sinclairs MineSet," which now hosts his gold commentary and is intended as a free service to the gold community

Gold’s Role During Periods Of Monetary Stress

Gold's job is, and will always attempt to during periods of monetary stress, balance the INTERNATIONAL Balance Sheet of the USA.

Putting the Numbers Into The Equation:

$3,125,000,000,000 / 260,272,000 ounces of gold = $12,006.67 per ounce of gold.

In the early 70s I put an advertisement in Barrons predicting gold would rise to $900. When it got near that level, I left for 21 years.

I reappeared officially when Forbes published an article on my career December 10th of 2001. Click here to view the Forbes article...

The mathematics behind the $900 number came from the following equation plus reasonable trend estimates on the number going into the future.

You will note the number today fits in nicely with Alf's high levels.

  • Major ONE up from $256 to $1,015 (actually 4 times the $255 low);
  • Major TWO down from $1015 to $699, say $700 (a decline of 31%);
  • Major THREE up from $700 to $3,500 (a Fibonacci 5 times the $500 low);
  • Major FOUR down from $3,500 to $2,500 (a 29% decline);
  • Major FIVE up from $2,500 to $10,000 (also a 4 fold increase, same as ONE)
I would not have revealed this unless a recognized expert who has a 100% track record such as Alf Fields predicted it first.

I did not wish to yell "fire in the theatre."

It certainly make the Comex manipulators, who could easily be stopped, look long-term silly today.

Jim
,

See the following two links as support:
http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/data/FDHBFIN.txt
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_gold_reserves

In the past, I believe you have said that the price of gold could reach a level whereby in dollar terms this equation will hold:

Oz's of Gold Held by US x $ Price of Gold = External Debt

From the above links we find:
Federal Debt held by Foreign Investors = $3,125,000,000,000 (as of 12/31/08)
Official US Gold holdings = 8,133.5 tonnes (or 260,272,000 oz's)

Putting the Numbers into the equation:

$3,125,000,000,000 / 260,272,000 = $12,006.67 per ounce of gold

My question is - what is the mechanism or thought process that makes the equation true?
(I guess that I am looking for the why?)

Thank you for your time.

READ A BUSINESS BOOK EACH WEEK IN 10 MINUTES

There is not a day goes by that I am not reading a new book learning more about myself or how to become more successful. If you look beside my bed there can be 2 or 3 books on different topics whilst I tend to have my focus book of the moment. There just never seems to be enough time to get through every thing I want to learn.
A couple of months ago Rick Raddatz released BREVITY BRIEFS - The worlds best book summary's.
Each week Rick does a book summary on video as well as providing the text taking the key points from the book he is focusing on for that week.
The books are all focused on small to medium sized business's and implementation of the key strategies in each book.
I so look forward to each Thursday morning where I can get my 10 minute dose of book of the week,I thought after 15 books I should share this great program with readers of this blog.

What does it cost ? $97 US one off fee until March 2010.That is another 50 + business books summarised each week.I have already got back the value several times over.

Here is a sample from Brevity Briefs - Good To Great

Good to Great

I picked Good to Great as the first Brevity Brief inspirational book because so many people have read the book. Therefore, it will likely help you understand more clearly how much additional value the Brevity Brief concept adds over and above a traditional book summary -- even without the wisdom-of-the-crowd (which will come in time).

Ok, let's get down to business!

Check it out at

That's a free sample of what you get *weekly*
if you sign up for the Brevity Small Business Club.
I signed up. Let me know what you think...

I read and the people I meet"

LOW COST STRATEGY IS THE MOST PROFITABLE

DAVE PRATT

Dave Pratt from RMC in the USA wrote an article today that clearly points out how a producer operating in the commodity arena can increase profit by choosing the correct strategy.
Here at KLR we know that the lower the Cost of Gain the easier it is to make more profit and also find more trading opportunity's in the market.

Dave Pratt, Ranch Management Consultants, Inc.

A story was related to me by an Executive Link member at our last EL meeting that underscored the reason the low-cost strategy is the most profitable strategy in ranching. The example was related to him by a rancher from Mexico attending our recent school in Abilene, Texas.

Imagine a cow/calf operation that produces $100,000 of income and incurs $80,000 in costs. It makes a profit of $20,000. Cutting costs by $20,000 (25% of $80,000) will double profit from $20,000 to $40,000. You can also double the profit of the business without changing the cost structure, but you'd have to increase the scale of the business by 100%.

In other words, you'd need to grow the business from $100,000 of income and $80,000 in expenses to $200,000 in income and $160,000 in expenses.

Here are a few questions you may want to consider as you choose the strategy that holds most promise for you:

1. Which strategy requires less labor?

2. Which strategy requires more capital investment?

3. Which strategy involves more risk?

4. Which strategy will be more profitable if cattle prices go down?

Of course, if you pursue the low cost strategy and then increase the scale of the business, profit is quadrupled. But first things first, and the first thing is to build a low cost business.

Dave Pratt --------- Ranch Management Consultants

Dave has been a guest speaker for KLR Mastermind a couple of time and is always full of easy to understand principles, he also has a great website with lots of resources - take a look by clicking on the link above.

KLR MARKETING SCHOOLS AT CAPACITY - BOOKED OUT

I sent an email to KLR Marketing School graduates and interested people it back in December saying "Book in to the KLR Marketing school before the Rush".Well the rush has happened.

In the same week as we had advertising being run in 2 states we had to close both Orange and Emerald KLR Schools as they were at capacity.Carnarvon WA KLR Marketing school is also at the point of capacity as well.

Steve Truman from AGMATES has been spreading the word as well as Sally Murfet from Cattle Country with 2 articles in the last issue. The graduates sharing their own experience with friends and family has also led to people looking to atttend our 2 day program.

We do still have a couple of places left for the 1 Day Advanced workshop in Orange and Emerald - Graduates Only can attend the 1 Day Workshop.

It was after day 1 of attending Bud Williams Marketing school in the USA that Jim,Rod and Myself decided we needed to bring this breakthrough in thinking, how we could market our animals more profitably. The KLR Marketing school took 12 months of work to put together in 2003-04, then we launched the program in August 2004.Since that time the KLR school has been constantly improving as we had more knowledge on the success of graduates and the challenges livestock producers have here in Australia.

Our vision has always been to provide the opportunity for livestock producers to postion themselves to be as profitable as possible whilst managing their land resource in a sustainably and improving manner.

The 1 Day KLR Advanced workshop will take graduates the next step after they have been working with KLR principles for a while. Jim Lindsay is going to be presenting and sharing how KLR has changed his large cattle operation.

Jim returned from the USA in 2003 and immediatly started using the KLR Marketing methods to create phenominal breakthroughs in both risk management and profit.

As the uncertainty of world financial markets starts to affect not so much producers directly, but the processors and traders who market our products, there will be some challenges ahead.Graduates of KLR can be confident that if they follow the rules and principles they have learnt at the school they will still be able to trade profitably regardless of whether the market rises or falls.

The Clock is Ticking

If you are someone considering attending a KLR Marketing school or a graduate looking at repeating we have put in place 2 more schools in June in both Roma and Orange. There will also be a 1 Day advanced Workshop in Roma - not sure about Orange yet.

Both these schools are already 1/2 full so do not wait for later if you need to secure a place,if you are not sure pre register anyway as that does not require payment.

Also now that the FARM READY training grants are in place for all Australian producers, it is now possible to attend with 100% cost recovery including accomodation, travel and childcare.
We still stand by our 100% Money Back Guarantee.

To Find out more about KLR Marketing and how you might benefit visit our website and fill in the form to get a Free 50 minute MP3 where Jim,Rod and myself were interviewed by Sally Murfett from Rural Connections. You also will be given the option to recive a mailout package of information about KLR Marketing schools and programs.
