Ros all ready to fish the San Juan.
We travelled from Durango to Navajo Dam on the San Juan river in New Mexico to see if we were up to the challenge of catching a trout in the 5th state and 11th river. The San Juan is in high desert country over 6,000 feet and can get 17 degrees F below in winter. It also seems to be very very popular with fish just being cheeky, yet you need small 24 -26 fly's.
We caught a few nice fish each in an environment that was harsh and freezing in the morning.
Grahame picked up this nice brown.
Ros picked up a nice rainbow.
Hard to see but Grahame had his biggest fish in the net here.
There was not a lot of real estate available !!
Some High Desert Country
After a tough but successful windy freezing morning.
We did a half day float with 19 other boats all this close !!
The view of the San Juan.
At the time of posting this we are now in Sedona,Arizona.
Next post will show the amazing red rock scenery.
